One killed in Neyveli Lignite Corporation blast

CUDDALORE: A worker was killed and six others were injured in a blast at Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) on Tuesday morning.

Police said the blast occurred at a generator which collects steam from a boiler in thermal power station I, killing chief manager Selvaraj and injuring six others. The accident happened at 10am

The roof of the building was completely ripped off in the impact.

NLC sources said a technical fault in the heater of the generator might have led to the explosion.

The injured workers were rushed to NLC general hospital. Two of them sustained severe injuries.
