Senior Samajwadi Party leader, 2 others killed as train rams SUV in Uttar Pradesh

VARANASI: Senior Samajwadi Party leader, Satairam Yadav, who was also given the status of UP minister of state, was killed with his gunner and driver when a speeding train hit their SUV at an unmanned crossing in Jaunpur district on Monday.

According to reports, Yadav, a native of Khalitaha village under Gaura Badshahpur police station, along with his gunner Rohit Dixit (26) and driver Vikram Verma (24) was going somewhere when the driver of the SUV failed to notice Jaunpur-Audihar passenger train while negotiating an unmanned railway crossing at Chaukiadham. All of them died on the spot.

The bodies were taken to district hospital. The district magistrate Suhas LY, SP Happy Guptan and UP minister Parasnath Yadav also reached the hospital shortly.

Following the incident, an angry mob staged a massive demonstration at the accident site.
