Convenor of UFBU in Indore, MK Shukla, said, "There will be no clearing of cheques, nor clearance of NEFT (national electronic fund transfer) or even RTGS (real time gross settlement) due to the strike".
General secretary of MP State Bank Employees' Association, VK Sharma, said that a huge rally of striking bank employees will be organized on the premises of Oriental Bank of commerce in MP Nagar in Bhopal on Wednesday in favour of their demands.
"The last wage settlement in the banking sector expired in October, 2012 and hence a revised settlement is due from November, 2012. But since the last one year, the discussions have been very tardy and hence UFBU gave the strike call. On 14-12-2013, the Indian Banks Association (IBA) called the unions for talks and made their offer which was not acceptable to them. Hence UFBU decided to go ahead with the strike", said general secretary of All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA), CH Venkatachalam..
Requesting anonymity, a general manager of a state-owned bank in Bhopal said that not all the bank employees will be participating in the strike. Only the union members will remain absent, he added.
