Dayanidhi Maran files nomination from Central Chennai

CHENNAI: DMK leader and former union minister Dayanidhi Maran on Saturday filed his nomination to contest from Central Chennai Lok Sabha constituency. This will be the third time he will be contesting from the constituency.

Sitting MP from the same constituency, Maran told reporters after filing nomination that the party would win all the 40 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

"People vouch support for DMK in Central Chennai and the party would win all 40 seats," Maran said.

Accusing Chennai Corporation of not taking any steps in controlling the mosquito menace, Maran said "people in my constituency are put to a lot of hardship due to mosquito menace. Chennai corporation produces mosquitoes."

Candidates of almost all parties are queuing up to file nominations as the deadline comes to a close at 5pm on Saturday.
