The 60th Britannia Filmfare Awards 2014 saw the who's who from the entertainment industry walk the red carpet to attend the most awaited and celebrated awards in the history of Indian cinema. Best Actor Male: Shahid Kapoor wooed audiences and critics alike with his performance in the critically acclaimed film Haider. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the film is based on Shakespeare's play Hamlet. Set in Kashmir, Shahid Kapoor plays Haider, the male protagonist, who is in search of his father who has 'disappeared'. The talented and versatile actor worked hard for this film and this award was long due. Accepting the Black Lady, Shahid said he could not believe it. But we certainly can!

Best Actor Female: Rekha presented the award for Best Actress to Kangana Ranaut for Queen. But since she was absent, Vikas Bahl came on stage to take it on her behalf. Rekha then took the award from him saying she would present it to Kangana herself and that she would have no choice but to accept it. Director Vikas Bahl said, "Kangana is the woman who made me look like a good director."

Best Film and Best Director: Queen was one of the most loved and watched films of 2014. It was also a favourite at the 60th Filmfare Awards. Directors Anurag Kashyap and Vikas Bahl came on stage dancing to the song London Thumkda from the same movie. An emotional Vikramaditya Motwane said, "We managed to make this film in spite of having monetary issues, we still remember we didn't had the money to get back from Paris and reach Amsterdam and I would like to thank Vikram and Viacom who made this possible and helped us in completing the movie."
Best Director: Vikas Bahl for Queen.

Best Actor Award Female (Critics): An emotional Alia Bhatt accepted the Best Filmfare Actor Award Female (Critics) for her film Highway. Considered to be one of her finest performances so far, Alia received rave reviews and this trophy validates it. Presenting the Black Lady to Alia was noted director and producer Anurag Kashyap.

Best Actor Award Male (Critics): This one came as a pleasant surprise o validate that the Filmfare Awards select only the best in the Hindi film industry, individuals who are deserving of the Black Lady. Actor Sanjay Mishra won the Best Actor (Critics) Award for the film Ankhon Dekhi, written and directed by Rajat Kapoor.
Best Film Award (Critics): Ramesh Sippy came on stage to give away the award for Best Film Award (Critic) to Rajat Kapoor for Ankhon Dekhi.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male and Female): Tabu was presented with a Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) for Haider, by none other than the dashing actor Shahid Kapoor, who played Tabu's son in the film. On receiving the award, Tabu said, "Today I want to applaud everyone in the film industry who wrote great characters for women, all the writers, directors, actor and who ever is responsible for this. Thank you for making it possible." Also receiving the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) was Kay Kay Menon for the film Haider.

The Filmfare Award for Best Actor Debut (Female) went to Kriti Sanon for the film Heropanti. Kriti thanked Sajid Nadiadwala for giving her the opportunity. She also thanked her Mom and Dad.

Best Debut Director: 2 States, directed by debutante director Abhsihek Varman has certainly won the hearts of the audience and critics alike. Based on Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel by the same name, the film has been nominated under all popular categories at this year's Filmfare Awards. Abhishek accepted the award for Best Debut Director for 2 States, where the lead characters in the film were played by Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Dia Mirza walked on stage and said, "Filmfare is proud to give the Lifetime Achievement Award to Kamini Kaushal." Jaya Bachchan then came on stage to present the award and said that Kamini Kaushal has been in the industry for 70 years and FIlmfare is 60 years old. She further added that she knew the evteran actress through her mother in law where the two had spent a lot of years together in Lahore.
