India, Pak troops exchange sweets on R-Day
Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control exchanged sweets at three places in J&K on the occasion of Republic Day. A unit of 12 Infantry Brigade of the Army exchanged sweets with their Pakistan counterparts at Kaman Post in Uri sector on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad Road, defence sources said. They said sweets were also exchanged with Pakistani troops at Teetwal in Tangdhar sector of Kashmir and at Chakan-da-Bagh in Poonch Sector of Jammu region.
The much awaited "special" episode of the 'Mann ki Baat' radio address which will have Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Barack Obama sharing their thoughts would be aired at 8pm on Tuesday.

Tamil Nadu celebrated the 66th Republic Day with patriotic fervour with governor K Rosaiah unfurling the national flag at the Marina beach. Rosaiah also took the salute from the three wings of the armed forces and other security agencies. Chief minister O. Panneerselvam and his ministers and a large number of people enjoyed the various floats and dances by school students dressed in colourful attire.

The programme
The Republic Day parade ceremony will commence at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate where Modi will lead the nation in paying homage to the martyrs by laying a wreath. As per tradition, after unfurling of the Tricolour, the National Anthem will be played with 21-gun salute. The parade will then commence and President Pranab Mukherjee will take the salute. The parade would begin with showering of petals by IAF helicopters, which will also display the tricolour and flags of Army, Navy, and Air Force.

"Women's Empowerment" is the theme of this year's Republic Day parade, the main attraction of the annual extravaganza would be marching contingents of all-women officers of the three Services.
