Passengers had altercation with the crew and the CISF personnel at the airport in commercial hub of Madhya Pradesh.
The flight, that was supposed to take off at 8.05 pm, had around 100 passengers with connecting flights to Bangkok and Goa on Saturday morning.
The technical team, which was schedule-checking, detected the snag in the front wheel. First an announcement was made that the flight will take off 20-minutes late than its scheduled departure.
After half an hour AI officials made second announcement that the flight may be delayed by an hour as the snag would be repaired by experts from Delhi. After waiting for three passengers created ruckus at the airport and got into arguments with AI officials.
"They had been asking us to wait for the last four hours. We were on a trip to Goa in a group of 30 people and had a connecting flight from Mumbai. Airways now say that we would be sent to Mumbai by this flight tomorrow! How can they be so irresponsible?," says Pradeep Tamrakar, a resident of Bhopal who was among those left stranded at Indore airport.
Another passenger Vijay Jha had a similar statement.
"Overlooking the inconvenience cause to us, CISF officers misbehaved with passengers. A female passenger who wanted to contacted AI officers was also manhandled," Asish Kundelia told TOI on phone from airport. He too had a connecting trip from Mumbai.
