Nine other family members of the deceased kids were injured in the rain triggered tragedy, which took place at around 1.30am.
Out of the nine injured, two women in critical state have been referred by doctors to Indore, while other 7 injured have been hospitalized in Burhanpur, superintendent of police Burhanpur, Anil Singh Kushwah, told TOI on Monday morning.
The incident occurred in Rajghat-Shikarpura area edging Tapti river in Burhanpur town, when the old and jaded boundary wall of the gurdwara collapsed due to heavy rain.
With the gurdwara being located at a height, the wall caved in on makeshift houses of weaver families in adjacent low-lying Kali Masjid locality.
Three of these houses subsequently caved in, burying alive 7 kids aged between one year and 14 years, while nine other family members, including parents of the deceased children were hurt seriously.
According to Burhanpur district administration sources an immediate assistance of Rs 5,000 each has been sanctioned to each of the affected family. Also, major monetary assistance to the tragedy struck families has been recommended to the state government by the local administration.
