Sopore town has always been a hub of the militants, and the residents have also supported them.

Farooq Ahmad Dar of sopore town says, '' how can we forget the hanging of Afzal Guru and participate in the election process.''
Dar, who was out on the deserted road to fetch some eatables for his home , said '' the grave of Guru is still wet inside Tihar jail and you expect us to vote for the people who have enabled the GOI( government of India) to execute Guru inside the jail without even informing his parents here''.
Doabgah, the native village of Mohammad Afzal Guru, witnessed a complete poll boycott on Wednesday when North Kashmir is voting for Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. However, in a nearby village at Mazebugh polling station only 12 votes were polled till 2.30 pm. The polling staff of the polling station near the Guru's house was just waiting for the voters .
