"Janta ka nirnay sarvopariya hai, hum iski izzat karte hai, (the verdict of people is above all, I respect it)," said Kejriwal after his defeat from Varanasi seat. In a brief chat to newspersons before leaving for Delhi on Friday, he said that he received a lot of affection from the citizens of Kashi and this relationship will continue forever.
When asked about the debacle in election, he said, "It was the first parliamentary election the party faced. Mein kahan haara hun, ye chunav to janata ne lada hai," (It is not my defeat, the election was fought by the people). We have just provided a platform to people," he said and added that he had not expected four seats of AAP in Punjab. "But we are disappointed with the performance in Delhi. We will sit together to analyse what went wrong in the election," he added.
Kejriwal arrived here around 11am and moved straight to Kabir Nagar residence in Durgakund area from the airport. He did not go to the counting venue at Pahadia Mandi.
