Weathering the Modi wave, Congress strongman Ajit Jogi has established comfortable lead of more than 30,000 over sitting BJP MP Chandulal Sahu in Mahasamund constituency. Jogi had won the Mahasamund seat in 2004, defeating former union minister V C Shukla, who had contested on a BJP ticket in 2004 polls.

BJP appears to be facing a major setback as its national Mahila Morcha president Saroj Pandey is trailing over her Congress rival Tamradwaj Sahu by a margin of 17,000 votes in Durg constituency.

Pandey has been facing rough weather in her constituency, particularly from among her own party men, ever since her meticulous rise and rise in politics within a short span of time.
