Quake on Konkan railway route, few trains delayed

MUMBAI: A few stations in Chiplun-Ukshi section on Konkan Railway route experienced minor tremors at 7.30am today.

The quake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale and was reported by Stations Masters of Kamathe, Savarda, Ukshi and Sangameshwar stations.

No damage has occurred to any of the engineering structures on Konkan Railway route following the quake.

Immediately after getting the information about the quake, local Konkan Railway officials inspected all the engineering structures in the concerned section and reported that all the engineering structures, including track, cuttings, tunnels and bridges were safe.

As a result of the quake, Train no 12432 Rajdhani Express was stopped in the section for 35 minutes, 12617 Mangala Express was stopped for about an hour, and 19577 Tiruvelveli-Hapa Exp for 45 minutes.

The trains were restarted on getting Track Fit Certificate at 9.20am.
