After throwing the body in the well, accused, Nathu Kol filled the well with logs of wood to hide the body. "It took more than an hour to remove logs from the well before the body could be taken out," sub-inspector Manju Kiran Tirkhi told TOI.
The incident took place at Nakdaha village of the district on Monday evening and the body was taken out on Tuesday.
Deceased Pohkal Kol, 55, had two wives and used to live with his second wife at Shanti Nagar, accused Nathu Kol was from his first wife. "On Monday Pohkal came to Nakdaha and Nathu had a dispute with him over property as all the property was in the name of Pohkal," Tirkhi said.
Nathu pressed him to transfer properties on his name, the dispute took an ugly turn leading to the incident, she said.
"We had a tip off about the incident but neither the accused was available nor any villager was willing to say anything but today on inspection of the house signs of dragging a body towards the well were visible," Tirkhi said.
The well was filled with freshly cut wood logs and signs of burning hay were also present, on suspicion we removed the logs and body was found there, she said.
"The accused is yet to be arrested and we have launched a hunt to nab him," Tirkhi told TOI.
