Nitish Kumar's JD(U) to fight on 10 LS seats in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's bete noire, Bihar chief minister and Janata Dal (United) supremo Nitish Kumar may soon campaign in the state.

The JD(U) plans to field 10 candidates in Gujarat and has already announced five candidates.

JD(U) vice-president in Gujarat, Govind Jadav, said: "We have requested Nitish Kumarji and other senior party leaders to campaign in Gujarat. We are likely to get dates for Nitishji's tour soon. The party has decided to fight against both the BJP and the Congress.''

During 2012 assembly elections, the JD(U) had said that Nitish would campaign in Gujarat but the Bihar CM did not turn up.

Jagatsinh Vasava, former IAS officer (and brother of state forest minister Ganpatsinh Vasava), will contest from Bardoli; Ambalal Jadav from Vadodara; Prof Praful Vasava from Chota Udepur; Kishor Vasava (son of JD(U) MLA Chottu Vasava) from Surat; and Shailesh Patel from Valsad.

"Soon we will announce our candidates for Ahmedabad East, Gandhinagar, Patan, Banaskantha and Junagadh. Our candidates will also contest on two assembly by-elections from Rapar and Abdasa," Jadav said.
