2014 general election: Maharashtra polls in three phases

MUMBAI: Maharashtra will elect 48 Lok Sabha members over three days in April, the election commission announced on Wednesday in New Delhi.

Polls for 11 seats in Mumbai and Thane districts will be held on April 24.

The 11 seats in these two cities are; Palghar, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Thane, Mumbai North, Mumbai North-West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South-central, Mumbai South and Raigad.

Maval is another constituency under which some of the areas in Mumbai metropolitan region fall will also go to polls on April 24. Entire Vidarbha region which has 10 Lok Sabha seats will be in the first round of poll in the state which will be held on April 10. Remaining 38 constituencies in the state falling in Marathwada, Western Maharashtra, Northern Maharashtra and Konkan will go to poll on April 17 and 24.

State election commission has already asked the voters to confirm their registry and cards and update them or apply for them immediate so as to get them enlisted before the last date for filing of nomination for the candidates. This means voters have less than a month's time to ensure that they can vote on the day of election.
