Four members of a family were killed and more than five persons were injured when a compound wall at a higher reach collapsed on the tiled houses below early on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Chaitra (14), Sundar (58), Sundari (55) and Baby (45).
The injured are admitted to Wenlock hospital. The injured are from another house adjacent to the one, which resulted in the fatalities.
Home minister KJ George who arrived at Bajpe airport on his way to Udupi visited the spot along with ministers Ramanath Rai and Abhayachandra Jain. Rai has assured Rs 1.5 lakh compensation to the next of the kin of the deceased.
