RAJAHMUNDRY: Seven fishermen stranded in the sea due to a technical snag in their boat were rescued by the Coast Guards near here and handed over to fishery department officials, an official release said today.

Seven fishermen from Bhairavapalem in East Godavari district went into the sea for fishing on April 11. Due to some technical snag in their mechanised boat, they were stranded in the middle of the sea, the release said.

The fishery department, after receiving the information, contacted the Kakinada Coast Guards on April 12 for their rescue, it said.

The Coast Guards, on ICGS C-151 vessel, traced the seven fishermen with their boat at 25 nautical miles away from Kakinada. They rescued the seven fishermen and handed over them to the fishery department officials yesterday, it added.
