"I am not concerned about the central ministers' response. The fact is that the raids did take place and the officials concerned should be held responsible. I will face it legally," Stalin said, when asked about his father and DMK chief M Karunanidhi's response to his remark that the CBI action was political vendetta by the UPA government.
Karunanidhi had told reporters that he would not like to speculate on whether it was a political vendetta or not.
Asked if he thought the CBI team questioning his grandson Udayanidhi in connection with the purchase of an imported car was part of a "political vendetta" as described by Stalin, the DMK chief had stated, "I cannot reply to your imagination. It may be a case of political vendetta or may be not. If central ministers say they were not aware of the raids, then we will have to believe them. It is not proper for me to speculate."
In New Delhi, Union finance minister P Chidambaram reportedly said, "I strongly disapprove of the CBI's action. It is bound to be misunderstood."
