Minimum temperatures up in Punjab, Haryana as foggy conditions prevail in the region

CHANDIGARH: The minimum temperatures in most parts of Haryana and Punjab today soared upto three degrees even as foggy conditions prevailed in the region, adversely affecting normal life in the morning hours.

The minimum temperatures in the region was just one degree Celsius below normal, the Met office said here adding that the night temperatures climbed up in the entire region.

Amritsar was the coldest place in the plains of Punjab and Haryana with a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal.

While Patiala had a low of 5.6 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, the minimum temperature at Narnual was 6 degrees Celsius.

Among other places, Ambala settled at a low of 6.1 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, followed by 6.2 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, 6.5 degrees Celsius at Hisar and 6.6 degrees Celsius at Chandigarh.

Most parts in the two states remained engulfed under a thick blanket of fog in the morning, reducing visibility up to a few metres. This adversely affected rail, air and road traffic at some places.

The Met department forecast drop in temperatures in the region in the next 24 hours.
