Six engineering students go missing off Vizag beach

VISAKHAPATNAM: (PTI) Six students including three girls of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management ( GITAM) here are feared to have drowned in the sea off Rushikonda beach here today.

Police said a group of seven students from the first year of engineering course had gone into water behind AP Tourism Resorts.

However, they were caught in the high tide. Local fishermen could save one of them, Rahul Babu, from Warangal. But six others could not be rescued.

Despite search operation led by the Navy and Coast Guard helicopters none of the six others was found.

While the search by boats was on, helicopters suspended the search after the dark.

The six untraced students are G Peerti Reddy, B Susheel, Anurag Reddy of Warangal district, Anushia of Nalgoda, P Sai Nithin and P Sindhu of Hyderabad.
